GETTING STARTED

There are many facets to the functionality of CAS. Some of them don't require an account, but others do. In order to view information about courses offered, equivalencies, or degree requirements, one could simply use the Guest Login. But to use the feature to add and store courses to be used by a Planning Guide, which will evaluate those courses to a degree, as well as storing those Planning Guides for future use, one would need an account. The biggest benefit in using CAS is to be able to store those courses to be evaluated by a potential institution.

It is absolutely free of charge to have a CAS account.

To create a New Account, go to http://transfer.org and follow the links to using CAS in your state. Once in CAS Online, click on New Account and follow the instructions. After an account has been created, choosing Members from the CAS Online screen logs you back into CAS. Please record your userid, CAS Institution Code (the value after the ‘@’ symbol), and password for future reference.

Once logged in to CAS, you can view

  • Coursework offered at an institution in the Course Descriptions
    • Course title, hours and identification
  • Requirements of a degree/major in Academic Programs
    • Such as courses required, hours and grade requirements
    • Good for helping students plan for transfer, as well as determining a good fit for them
  • Course equivalencies in the Course Equivalency Guide
    • Course 100 at institution A equates to course 120 at institution B, as determined by institution B
  • Add and store coursework in CAS using Your Courses
  • Run a Planning Guide to determine how those courses will transfer and apply within a degree program.
